October is an autumn prime time for giant northern pike fishing in Finland. Both small and massive pike concentrates in shallow backwaters.
The Finnish coast offers many kilometers of reed shores. Slow movement along the coastline and casting will surely result in either a record number of pike caught per day (up to 30-40 pieces of 1-3 kg pike), or an impressive size of fish.
Turku Archipelago and Gulf of Finland sea coast.
Сlosed narrow backwaters, overgrown with reeds and thick algae (Potamogeton perfoliatus, Ceratophyllum demersum) at the bottom. Depth 0.5 - 1 m.
Pike is active all day long in early October. As it gets colder, pike activity decreases to 30-40 minutes a day.
Big size lures from 18-20 cm: jerks, silicone soft baits, spinnerbait still works at the beginning of October. The colder the water gets, the slower the lure animation should be. And don't forget to make short lure stops.
ADVANTAGES:

- fishing do not depend on the weather. All spots are closed from the wind and waves;
- new and modern accommodation. Great camping facilities with hiking path, grill places, restairant nearby.
DISADVANTAGES:
- limited privacy as 6 cottages are located next to each other;
- on the weekend may be quite many people and fishermen, so get ready to compete for fishing spots (best time to come from Monday to Thursday);
- second floor is low and hot in summer time.

LOCATION:
100 km west of Helsinki.
ADVANTAGES:
- a large number of pike fishing pike spots nearby;
- many kilometers of coastlines overgrown with reeds which is perfect for pike;
- privacy and sea views. Own pier, boat.
DISADVANTAGES:
- big open water nearby. In case of strong winds there may be waves and need to go to closed bays.
COTTAGE:
4+3 sleeps, 80 sq.m.
2 bed-rooms, loft with 3 beds.
WC, shower, electric sauna.
LOCATION:
200 km west of Helsinki.
ADVANTAGES:
- many pike fishing pike spots nearby;
- low fishing pressure;
- privacy. Own pier, boat.
DISADVANTAGES:
- mobility. Cottages are located on island. Free car ferry access.
- many private shores nearby.
COTTAGE:
6 sleeps, 76 sq.m.
2 bed-rooms, loft with 2 beds.
WC, shower, wood heated sauna.
LOCATION:
230 km west of Helsinki.
