BOATS SECTION
Fishing boats on site
A rowing boat is included with every cottage. It's fine for quiet shore fishing or a morning paddle.
But if you're targeting pike, zander, or river trout, you need a boat that gets you to the fish. Good fishing starts with the right vessel: stable, fast, with proper electronics.
On a 4 hp outboard, you'll spend half the morning getting there and return tired before you've really started.
We only offer the boats we fish from ourselves. Choose by group size, and get what you came for.'

Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to fish in Finland?
The peak season for fishing on Finnish lakes is mid-May to mid-June, and September.
In May, pike are highly active after spawning, with up to 18 hours of daylight. September brings the autumn feeding peak - the second high point of the year.
June through August are productive for zander: trolling or LiveScope fishing over deep structure, and trout on the rivers and rapids.
Do I need a fishing licence in Finland?
Yes. A fishing licence is required for anglers aged 18 - 69 for spinning and lure fishing.
We handle the paperwork: a licence can be added as an option when booking. Cost: €20 per person per week. Full details on Finnish fishing regulations.
How do I get to the lodge?
The lodge is 150 km from Helsinki Airport, approximately 2 hours by car. We recommend hiring a car at the airport: it gives you the flexibility to shop for supplies in Helsinki or Lahti, visit the trout pond 10 km away, and explore the area. A transfer can be arranged on request.
What's included in the base accommodation price?
The base price includes: cottage accommodation, linen and towels for the stated number of guests, final cleaning, firewood, and a rowing boat.
Motorboats, fishing licences, tackle rental, and guiding are all optional extras. To reach the best fishing spots, we recommend renting a motorboat with at least a 20 hp engine.
Can I bring children?
Yes, the base is well suited for family trips. In summer there are berries and mushrooms to pick, forest walks, bike rental, and kayaks. Nearby towns have a waterpark, an adventure park, and museums.
Children under 18 do not need a fishing licence. For family fishing with kids, the trout pond works particularly well.
Is there a shop nearby?
The nearest supermarket is in Iitti, about 15 km away. We recommend stocking up on the way, in Helsinki or Lahti.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in from 16:00. Check-out by 12:00. Early or late check-in/out can be arranged on request.
Can I take fish home?
Yes. The cottages have fish cleaning and cold storage facilities. Fresh fish for personal consumption can be transported across EU borders.
Can I fish from the shore?
Yes, the bank is accessible, and with pre-baiting you can attract bream, ide, and perch to the shore. That said, the main holding spots are on the water by boat, especially for pike and zander.
Do I need a boat licence?*
In Finland, no boat licence is required for recreational use. A basic briefing on departure is all you need, we provide this at the start of every stay.
Is a deposit required when booking?
Yes. A 30% deposit is required at the time of booking. The remaining balance is due 6 weeks before arrival.
What is the cancellation policy?
- The deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation. Any additional costs incurred as a result of cancellation are also non-refundable.
- For cancellations made 45 days or fewer before the arrival date, a 100% cancellation fee applies.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover unforeseen cancellations. Cancellations based on medical certificates or similar documentation are not accepted.
Can I come for a weekend rather than a full week?
Short stays of 3-4 nights are available. During peak summer season (July-August), the minimum stay is 7 nights.
Are life jackets provided?
Yes. Life jackets are provided on all boats, including children's sizes.
Is there a restaurant on site?
Yes. The base has a restaurant and banquet hall - catering for groups is available on request. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can be organised, and food can be delivered to your cottage.
